Manali to Leh Biking Tour-2019

It’s a dream for Bikers to go for an expedition to the Himalayas on a Royal Enfield, and the most fascinating and beguiling experience for a bike ride is Leh. Riding a bike in the scenic and picturesque landscape of Ladakh is among the most breathtaking moments in the world. The bike tour starts from the lush green and alpine meadows of the Kullu valley and then crosses the main Himalayan Ranges to the fabled lands of Lahoul and Ladakh. Over the next few days you will drive through breathtaking high altitude desert plateaus; high mountain passes; remote mountain villages and visit splendid Buddhist monasteries. You will see camping grounds of Tibetan nomads, the Changpas and migrating herds of kiangs (wild ass). As a climax to the entire trip, you will touch the famous Khardung La pass, which is the highest motorable road in the world at 18,000 feet. An excellent route for any avid mountain biker. The route is well laid and carefully planned. In fact several bikers take to this route every year.

Itinerary

You can reach Manali by air or train or by road. The nearest airport is Bhuntar, just 50 kms from Manali. Report at the base camp and complete the registration process. Attend an orientation session to be given by the chief organizer/guide which will cover the information like rucksack packing, basic biking etiquette and general awareness about the trek route. Comfortable stay is arranged at Manali either in tents or wooden houses based on availability. Often people get confused between Leh and Ladakh thinking both are the same. Leh and Kargil are two different districts in Ladakh.
This day is for relishing the beauty of Manali and wanderlust the tourist attractions of Manali which includes Rohtang pass, Solang valley, Beas kund, Chandrakanthi pass etc. the beauty of the lush green mountains is mesmerizing in Manali. Stay is arranged again at Manali either in tents or wooden houses based on availability.
Drive from Manali to Sarchu is about 240 kms. On the way, you will pass through Keylong and Baralacha. Rohtang is the first official stop over. People go for horse riding at this tourist spot. Roads are quite narrow and pass between the mountains covered with colorful flora. The green Baralacha lake exists right at the center. Participants get to camp near Baralacha lake at Sarchu appreciating the clear sky.
Its a long ride ahead on this day. You will be again riding a distance of 230kms from Sarchu to Leh from a height of 14000 feet to 17000 feet and again down to 11500 feet for the night's campsite. You will be traversing Nakee La pass, Tanglang La pass and Karu. On this day you will be even crossing the Indus River which flows from Tibet. Camps are setup at Leh. Participants feast to a hearty dinner to celebrate the day.
A day just to relax and explore the length and breadth of Leh. This day you will be roaming around Leh town enjoying their delectable dishes, relishing the pleasant climate and learning their culture. Places to visit in Leh town are the Shanthi stupa and the Leh palace from where you can view the entire town of Leh. Participants should make sure they are at the campsite before dinner time. Bikers are advised to sleep early to compensate for the next day's early start.
Bikers will be traveling 160 kms from Leh to Pangong and again travel back to Leh by the end of the day. Pangong Lake is also known as the Enchanted Lake due to the several myths behind the lake. One must note that 60% of the Lake is in China and only 40% in India. The Line of control between China and India passes through the Pangong Lake. Ladakh trip is incomplete without visiting this Place. Camps are setup at Leh for the night.
The day's road journey will be from Leh to Nubra valley which is 150kms. We can see lots of Buddhists and Buddhist monarchies around this place. The beautiful Diskit monarchy falls in this area. The Indo-Pak Line of control passes through the Nubra valley. The night's campsite is at Nubra Valley. Tents are pitched and participants enjoy hot soup and a hefty dinner.
The day will be pretty exhaustive with a traveling distance of about 350 kms. The key find in the day's trail is the local tribe, Balti, which follows its age-old customs in their lifestyle and speak a language which is just spoken and has no actual script as such. Biker also get to see Khardong La, a historically important place as it lies on the major caravan route from Leh to Kashgar in Central Asia. About 10,000 horses and camels used to take the route annually, and a small population of Bactrian camels can still be seen here. By sunset you will be traveling back to Leh. Camp is setup at Leh.
The return journey to Manali begins. By now bikers would have the necessary familiarity with the place and are capable of figuring out the directions back to Manali. The road is covered with apricot trees in all directions. Thiksey monarchy is just 19 kms from Leh and located on top of the hill which can be covered along. Tents are pitched at Sarchu for the night.
This is the last day bikers get to ride on the program. The ride to Manali passes through Keylong. Rohtang and Baralacha. After a hearty dinner, participants get to relax in the camp. Tents or wooden houses are arranged for the night based on availability.
After few farewell speeches and gossips, participants have breakfast and say cheese for a quick photo shoot, arrangements are made for the checkout.

ID Proof, YATA-India booking receipt, original medical certificate stating your fitness & two passports sized photographs are a must to enter the Base Camp. Without these documents, participants will not be allowed to proceed further at the Base Camp.
